Henry Engineering PowerSwitch FailSafe AC Power Controller
PowerSwitch is an automatic AC power controller. It can be used to switch AC power between Main and Backup devices, or to simply turn AC power on or off. PowerSwitch can be operated using the front panel pushbuttons or remotely controlled via external GPI contact closures. An audible alarm is provided, as well as remote status indication.
PowerSwitch is ideal for automatically switching between main and backup Arbitron PPM encoding units. If the PPM Monitor is used, its code-fault detection feature can be utilized so that PowerSwitch will switch to the backup encoder if the main encoder fails.
Two standard 3-prong grounded outlets provide AC power to Main and Backup equipment. The Main outlet is normally live, with the Backup outlet turned off. A contact closure (either momentary or maintained) applied at the Control input will cause the Backup outlet to become live, with the Main outlet turning off. PowerSwitch will stay OlatchedO in this mode until it is reset manually with either the front panel button or with a contact closure at the Control input. Separate Main and Backup remote GPI inputs are provided on the Control input connector.
When PowerSwitch switches to Backup mode, an audible alarm will sound to alert nearby personnel that backup equipment has been activated. The alarm can be turned off with a front panel switch. LEDs indicate Main and Backup modes, and an auxiliary Status relay provides dry contacts for remote status indication. An internal jumper can be set to provide 12 vdc on the status relay contacts. PowerSwitch AC outlets are conservatively rated at 5 amps per outlet. AC power switching is via a heavy-duty sealed relay.
PowerSwitch is powered with a built-in AC power supply. It is 1/3 rack width, and can be rack-mounted with the optional rack-mount shelf, or cabinet or wall mounted using optional cabinet/wall mounting brackets.
