Black Box VX-SDI-FO-10KM 3G-SDI Extender / Fiber Optic Converter
Take high-quality SDI video much farther than what's ordinarily possible over coax runs. Transmit multirate SDI video, including 3G-SDI signals, at extended distances over a single strand of optical fiber with the Black Box 3G-SDI Fiber Extender.
Ideal for a number of TV broadcast, video editing, and post-production studio applications, the extender supports single-mode distances up 10 kilometers (6.2 mi.) on its small form-factor pluggable (SFP) interfaces for simplex fiber.
Reclocks, reconstructs signal for consistent quality.
The extender combo includes a transmitter and receiver for sending high-end video, as well as embedded audio and metadata, to another building or studio. The transmitter converts an SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 259M , SMPTE 424M, or DVB-ASI electrical signal to optical signals. Then, on an LC fiber connector at the remote end, the receiver equalizes and reclocks the signal while converting the signal back to the SDI signal.
Also, the extender is immune to pathological test patterns (SMPTE RP-198), which guarantees high-quality, flicker-free transmission.
What's more, the 3G-SDI Fiber Extender equalizes the input for reducing signal loss. This way, you get greater range between the transmitter and its SDI source.
Or use the loopout to daisychain to additional SDI equipment. Equalization provides SDI input cable distances of up to 90 meters (295Ft) for 3G-SDI, up to 150 meters (150Ft) for HD-SDI, and up to 300 meters (1000Ft) for SD-SDI.
For both older and newer SDI interfaces, the extender processes bit rates from 270 Mbps up to 2.97 Gbps.
Use in a number of applications
Set the 3G-SDI Fiber Extender up, for instance, to connect an SDI camera to a SDI-compatible video recorder on the other side of a building or campus. Or connect a SDI switching equipment at a head end to a display on the other side of a studio. It's also great for corporate video applications with SDI equipment.
Because the extender uses fiber for transmission of content, it's inherently more secure and immune to outside interference. For this reason, the 3G-SDI Fiber Extender is ideal for healthcare applications or other places where video security is critical. Also, it's perfect for reaching SDI equipment in factory or other "noisy" areas.
